Falling in Love at Five Months

Ten things Mama loves about Aidan this September

1)Snuggling him to sleep- how he pulls you as close as he can possibly get, snuggles his soft little head under your chin. He holds on tight- your shirt or hair in his tight little fist- and wiggles until he is just cozy enough to give a little sigh and fall asleep.

2) When he 'sees' you, you can watch the realization of who you are dawn into his little consciousness. He startles just a touch, and a big smile creeps across his mouth, and scrunches up his eyes. He gives a little wiggle, and if being held, he nuzzles into the shoulder with a giddy little wiggle.

3) Waking up to his little voice (definitely more pleasant at 7:30am than 5am!) and seeing him look up at you with his 'good morning eyes' and dawning smile. "Good Morning, Mama" he says, "What are we going to do today?"

4) Oh Aidan- he's such a so very 'good baby.' "Such a happy baby!" everyone says.

5)He's always so curious about what's going on around him. Perhaps like most babies, he most always prefers people to toys- watching, and playing.

6) Watching Aidan
watch Alexander. Aidan smiling at Alexander with a very special 'just for my brother' smile. Listening to Alexander talk to Aidan, or try to comfort him. "It's okay, Aidan. It's okay," he says.

7) The feel of his little cheek against yours. His soft, thin-haired little head looking around beside yours... just in the right spot for kisses.

8) Holding him to help him stand so he can feel a little more like everyone else. He seems so proud and excited to be a little bi-ped. He
watches watches the world whir around him.

9) Noticing how he plays so intently-- trying to figure things out, grabbing, pulling, kicking, reaching, startling himself sometimes with the things he can accomplish. See the process of working on getting that binky, toy, ring, rattle, in his hand into his mouth.

10) Witnessing the magic of drifting off to sleep- eyes getting heavier,
heavier. Then the head turns- to this side, to that side- and finding a resting place. Eyes slit open occasionally, "are you still there?" "You're okay, Aidan. It's time for sleep..." A hand on his chest, a kiss on his forehead.

...and a bonus one) His little self sitting on my lap, looking up at Mama every so often... with the smile that melts your heart... again.

You are so blessed! Two sons who are different but so alike - curious, happy, caring - and best of all, both filled with love. Nancy

And what a wide smile this little guy does have -so captivating. He's the calm one, not necessarily always quiet as he is a babbler and a screechy one when he was testing his vocal strength for a spell. His new bumbo seat at Nana's sits him up like a big boy joining the dinner conversation.
Love seeing Alex holding Aiden or snuggling together. What a team they'll be! Each blessed in unique ways to serve.
