A Little Life Dedicated to God

Last Sabbath, November 28, was a very special day for our family. It was Thanksgiving Sabbath. It was Aidan's seven month old birthday. And it was the date that little Aidan Daniel Winkler was 'officially' dedicated to the Lord. It was a day set apart to consecrate this little life towards a calling higher than this world. It was a day of blessing and prayer that Aidan might indeed follow Christ his whole life long. It was a day to lift up Muma and Papa, and even Alexander as parents, brother- guides in this journey these still tiny feet will take. It was a day to call, to remind family and church family alike of the important duties, influence, calling they also have in the raising of this little one in the Lord.

It was a simple service at our home church for Aidan and little Eden C.. Our good friend (now pastor) Rob Alfalah returned to town for the holidays and preached and did the service for us. It was a special time for our little family with Grammy, Grandpapa and Great-Grandma, "Oma" coming down from Saginaw. Our good friends the Mills, Aunt Renee and Nana joined us, as well as Aunt Nancy all the way from Chicago. Nana wrote a poem for Aidan (and Eden too-- posted here), and Serena put together a little video clip for the dedication at the end of the service.

After church we had a houseful of family for a celebration lunch, Uncle Bill, Aunt Carol, Alison, and even Adam (in town from Atlanta) joined us as we munched and mingled. And though a tired and teething baby slept though the service and even much of the afternoon, I am sure he has felt the love and blessing surrounding him on this day. Indeed there is so very much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season. It is the deepest prayer of our hearts that in days not too far from now, we might 'munch and mingle' in a higher place, with this boy, these children, our family, and our God.
