fantastic four

Yay for you, Aidan!  Happy Birthday!  Aidan turned four this year with a birthday like none other.  As a joint gift to both Alexander and Aidan, (and supposedly in lieu of presents… ahem…) we jaunted off for a whirlwind weekend at Disneyland in California.  With one specific destination in mind, Aidan spent his birthDAY in Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure.  It’s place where all of his favorite little toys come to life in a movie-made-real destination that lit up these little boys’ hearts.  Aidan has been in love with these friendly little vehicles since before he was two as we’d received several gifts and books with the Pixar Cars.  Still, they didn’t really understand the whole story until as part of their birthday gift they got to watch the actual Cars Movie (the original), and everything kindof ‘clicked’ with all the magic Disney does so well.  Ever since the trip, our home has been a spattering of Cars games and set-ups.  Currently (early June) Alex has a ‘Cars Land’ set-up in the basement with all the characters and locations created out of various papers and props for everyone to enjoy– though he is definitely the one enjoying all the setting- up!  Aidan is all Cars Lego right now, and is working hard doing extra chores to save money for Lego Mack.  I’ve never seen him work so diligently– today my car was thoroughly vacuumed out and is amazingly crumb free!!!!

But we just love watching Aidan come into his own.  His conversations are growing in leaps and bounds, and he’s got new tricks like one-foot-hop-twists to show us everyday.  He’s got a run to challenge even Muma, and can zoom, zoom, zoom on that new McQueen bike.  He’s starting to sound out and spot words in the stories we read, and can sometimes quite surprise us in answering Alexander’s questions in school.  We’re so enjoying watching our little Aidan become a big boy.  You are such a treasure, Aidan!  What a good work the Lord is doing in you!

  1. Look at this handsome four year old with all the different expressions. I love the cheerful smiley ones when you’ve got a surprise, Aidan, or come in the door, or pick a snack before “watching” a DVD, or when waiting for ‘tickle bug”, or some news or event to share – like all those muscles for a strong boy. (although a very scrunched-up face comes next). Like Muma wrote, we often see your concentrating look when doing puzzles, cars, or Legos. You’re so busy thinking so hard I think you sometimes turn off your ears. At my house you also still like the Thomas train books best and Mighty Machines DVDs, the basement train set-up, and sandbox. Chik nuggets and ‘just peanut butter’ sandwiches or grilled cheese, shaped pancakes, yogurt or pudding cups are Aidan favorites as well. (and ringing the dinner bell when we remember)
I am so thankful for you, Aidan, how God is helping you grow in being caring and in learning so many new things. I love your quiet moods and silly moods and the love you show your brothers. My heart is overflowing and bursting with love – yes, to the quasars and beyond. God bless you, dear four year old!

  2. What a perfect/delightful summary of our precious yet “serious” gson Aidan. You bring to our lives cute antics, enthusiastic determination to do it yourself/your way. We love to the quasars n back a gagillion times. May our Lord continue to mold you and bless you. Luv Grammy & Granpapa
