Aidan turned two years old yesterday, and a very adorable little two he is.\u00a0 He was especially excited about his birthday as we’ve been practicing blowing candles out for about a week at the dinner table, and he insists<\/em> that we sing “happy dirtday to you!” before he makes his attempts.\u00a0 Wednesday we baked his cake, and he was up at the counter mixing, clapping, and offering his opinions about colors and how full to make the cupcake cups.<\/p>\n

But Thursday was his day.\u00a0 He woke up early and Muma took him downstairs to look at all the “Speed” and “Brown” (Lightning McQueen & Tow Mater) decorations that we’d put up for his birthday dinner– and though reserved at first while Papa videotaped– he later burst out in an excited “SPEEEED!!!” with each new discovery he re-made.\u00a0 When Alexander woke up we finished decorating the other little car ‘cupcakes’ with m&m’s and frosting guided by Aidan and Alexander (with a few tasty nibbles as well).<\/p>\n

We got going later in the morning over to the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum– a first for our little family, and the kids really enjoyed the preschool room first.\u00a0 Aidan couldn’t get enough of the fire-truck, and play fridge and climby house.\u00a0 Alexander buried himself in the building room– creating (with a little help of course) a tall-as-himself “Jericho Wall” he could march around in song, and send “a-tumbling dooowwwnn.”\u00a0 Both boys had fun at the water table with turtles and other creatures.\u00a0 As we made our way through the various floors and exhibits, many things were a bit old for the kids to really understand but they enjoyed pushing buttons and seeing the little displays react.\u00a0 Alex had fun with the bubbles, Aidan liked the lights and sound displays.\u00a0 We rounded up the visit back on the first floor and found a real Ambulance that really brought the boys alive and was a great finale to our little trip.\u00a0 Aidan could barely contain himself climbing in and out, driving behind the wheel, and had to be torn away for a tearful “good-bye ambulance!”<\/p>\n

Aidan was asleep in the car long before we reached home, and both boys took a good refresher-nap before the second part of the day.\u00a0 The fun was just beginning…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
