And with the season, he&#8217;s had a few little surprises of his own for us as he&#8217;s been going through another &#8216;explosion&#8217; phase of skills, discoveries, and little insights into his character.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aidan loves the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Christmas tree lights<\/span>, when we come down the stairs in the morning a big smile dawns on his face.<\/li>\n<li>Of all places he&#8217;s pretty content to <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">sit by the Christmas tree<\/span>.  <a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/www.winklerworldonline.com\/babyblog\/uploaded_images\/12-5-09-TreeTime-742354.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 12px 12px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 139px; height: 186px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.winklerworldonline.com\/babyblog\/uploaded_images\/12-5-09-TreeTime-741879.JPG\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>The sparkly snowflakes on the tree skirt and the pretty green branches are a major motivator (and frustration) to get him moving.<\/li>\n<li>Aidan&#8217;s spent quite a bit of time <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">riding<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> in the carrier<\/span> on Muma&#8217;s back watching the rolling out of various cookie dough episodes, and sleepily observing all the frosting commotion.<\/li>\n<li>Alex is so kind to point out to him his presents under the tree and put a few treasures in his stocking.  One evening, to much ado, Aidan began to open one of Alexander&#8217;s presents.  &#8220;No snooping!&#8221; called Alexander.  &#8220;That&#8217;s my present, Aidan!&#8221;  as he ran laughing to rescue it just in time.  <a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/www.winklerworldonline.com\/babyblog\/uploaded_images\/12-14-09-NewCarseat-741770.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 13pt 13pt 6px 6px; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 97px; height: 134px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.winklerworldonline.com\/babyblog\/uploaded_images\/12-14-09-NewCarseat-741090.JPG\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Aidan has made the switch to the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">new  car seat<\/span> from Grammy &amp; Grampapa.  Now he gets bundled in coat and hood\/hat and shoes just like a big boy when we go out.  Though it&#8217;s a bit less convenient, he&#8217;s certainly a lot <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">lighter<\/span>!<\/li>\n<li>We have a scoocher! <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> A backwards scoocher<\/span> that is&#8230; and much to his frustration.  He sees his target object and gets up on fours, and finds that his movement takes him farther from his goal than closer to it&#8230; then <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">everyone<\/span> hears about it!<\/li>\n<li>He&#8217;s resolved himself that if required, when necessary, he will <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">hold his own bottle<\/span>.  He doesn&#8217;t get them too oft<a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/www.winklerworldonline.com\/babyblog\/uploaded_images\/12-18-09-holdsownbottle-%282%29-737893.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 120px; height: 91px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.winklerworldonline.com\/babyblog\/uploaded_images\/12-18-09-holdsownbottle-%282%29-737390.JPG\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>en, and still much prefers nursing with Muma, so it&#8217;s taken us a while to get him to hold his bottle for a meal.  (usually he holds it as a messy chew toy)  But finally with some training and fussing, he&#8217;s given in and held his first relatively neat meal this week.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">He&#8217;s got a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">mouthful of new Christmas teeth<\/span>.  He&#8217;s sprouted three top teeth (with more on the way) in just the last week or so.  Needless to say, we&#8217;ve had some very fussy teething bouts the past several weeks.<\/li>\n<li>Aidan loves to stand and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">hold onto the couch<\/span>.  He can pull himself up by holding our fingers, or his crib (still not on the couch yet, though) so of course we&#8217;ve <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">lowered the crib<\/span> a level as well.<\/li>\n<li>He&#8217;s finally ready to move!  Until recently, he&#8217;s had very little desire to get somewhere new, but with all the holiday commotion and sparkly things in the house, it seems he&#8217;s sprouted <a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/www.winklerworldonline.com\/babyblog\/uploaded_images\/12-5-09-TreeTime-%2815%29-791612.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 13pt 13pt 6px 6px; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 164px; height: 108px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.winklerworldonline.com\/babyblog\/uploaded_images\/12-5-09-TreeTime-%2815%29-790964.JPG\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>some motivation.  We&#8217;ve had a few crawling lessons, and he can get <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">up on all fours and rock<\/span> rock rock&#8230; Then one hand&#8230; <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">splat!  <\/span>Usually followed by frustrated screeches and tears&#8230; Soon, little one&#8211; very soon!<\/li>\n<li>He&#8217;s got a few little games that he&#8217;s started playing on his own.  Spontaneous bouts of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">peek-a-boo<\/span> (covering his face, then uncovering it quick with a giggle) are now common, specially at nap time when he doesn&#8217;t want to sleep but Muma does&#8230;, big <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">splashes<\/span> in the bathtub, experiments with banging, taking toys out of a box\/ark and learning to put them in, and his newest trick <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">slapping Muma&#8217;s hand<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/www.winklerworldonline.com\/babyblog\/uploaded_images\/12-9-09-littleguys-%287%29-797795.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 178px; height: 118px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.winklerworldonline.com\/babyblog\/uploaded_images\/12-9-09-littleguys-%287%29-797189.JPG\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Aidan is really <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">interactive with other babies<\/span> his age. He and his buddy Jonathan have great bouts giggling, grabbing, and reaching for each other.  In stores or out and about he really focuses on them and smiles with them.  When he comes to toys, he also seems more <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">deliberate in his play<\/span>&#8211;  taking care with each piece rather than some random <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">unfocused<\/span> play we&#8217;ve seen&#8230; before.  ahem&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Aidan has just taken another leap in interacting with us, from new sounds and syllables (mamama, papapa, favorite <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">fish mouth sound<\/span>), lifting his arms for up and helping get dressed, and giggles, smiles, definite preferences.
