Dans La Neige…

Ok, so we did it- but as you can see, somebody wasn’t all too happy about it! It probably took us over five minutes to get Alexander into his little snow suit. When all was said and done, he lay on the floor in a blue marshmallow heap- he couldn’t sit stand or even wiggle his fingers. (We never did get that last problem fixed.) By the time Mama and Papa got our stuff on, and he was in our arms, he was a bit more pleased- or at least wondering what all the commotion was about, or maybe what time lift-off would be.

We threw open the door to a world of wintry white, and freshly fallen flurries on our 3 inches of snow, and sat Alexander in the deepest pile we had in the front yard. So he sat… (remember he can’t move) and made a little nervous laugh or two. Eventually he flopped backwards and managed to roll over to his tummy, surprisingly a-smile with snow on the chin. We tried to get him to walk a bit in the snow (more like a moon hop with Mama doing all the work) and he seemed to like it when we heaped it over his lap. He endured the whole three minute or so adventure with little nervous laughs throughout, ended in a grinning round of “Ring Around the Rosy” with the three of us, and a few fussies to let us know he was done. Such was Alexander’s first adventure in the snow. We’re quite certain his opinion of the stuff will change drastically in a year or two once Papa introduces him to… the snow fort.

  1. We remember all too well just how much you, David, hated being so ‘bundled’ up that first year. You did grow to love being out in the snow and we’re sure Alexander will love it just as much. Look forward to many happy hours on he sledding hills and yes snowball fights/forts as well. . . gma, gpa

  2. Sorry, David, but he has a few steps before snow fort, though. Nana (aka Lynne) beat me to it, by mentioning snow angels. There are also snowmen of all sizes and snowball fights. He’ll have so much fun with the cold white stuff that falls from the sky! Lotsa love, Nancy

  3. Such a cute write-up! I was chuckling as I pictured his reactions. So glad I caught you out in front today (Sun.) when he seemed happy with the experience – complete with miniature snow angel. You’re right about the marshmallow look, plus a little red nose. What a love!! =)) Nana
