seven months

Our little Lucas has been such a beautiful gift all wrapped up in this priceless package.  It’s so wonderful to have a baby in our home again, and at this charming seven month milestone, he wins our hearts over to googley love every single day.  He is simply the happiest baby ever, loves to cuddle, ‘kiss’, hug and snuggle, but is also simply content to watch his brothers play nearby with his own little toys or sharing one (albeit a safe one) of theirs.  Oh he loves his brothers!  He shows his excitement and love for his family by flapping his arms giddily when each of them wakes up in the morning and greets him for the first time each day.  He ‘sings’ along with them in the car by adding his little coos and ‘aaaahhhh’s.’  He comforts for them when they help him wait patiently for muma by chatting, playing, or offering a binky.  And he can’t wait to size up to them, growing as fast as he can and making muma switch out the closet clothes as fast as she can switch them in.  Oh Lukie!  You’re so amazing, and so loved, and so in tradition, we note a few of your delights and charms on your seventh month milestone:

  • You’re almost to crawling!!!  Any minute, you’ll make that move forward… instead of backward… and all your frustrations will disappear into a big smile ! 🙂
  • Last week you figured out how to sit from pretty much any position.
  • Your new words are “Babababababa”, and sometimes even “PaPa” Do you know that your father’s heart lights up each time he hears you (whether you mean it or not…)?
  • Your Muma and Papa haven’t been so strict, and you were fed & coddled on demand on this last camping trip, so you think you’re back to your 3am feeding… But you’ll quickly catch back up to your one-bink-a-night “sleep-through.”  Though *sigh* we’re still waiting for that surprise night we don’t hear you at all…
  • You laugh and smile at every variation of peek-a-boo, from the classic, to the French “coucou!”, to the sneeze variation ‘aaahhhh…choo!’  You’re a peek-a-boo expert!
  • You love ‘slap slap’ on Muma’s hand and are learning clap-clap on your own.
  • you. love. food.  anyone else’s food that is.  Your babyfood?  You can take it or leave it.  With the exception of your morning cereal with fruit that you snarf down as if you hadn’t eaten in the middle of the night.  But you also like your new little sucky that Muma wouldn’t invest in for the other brothers because it was too messy.  But now, we can fill it with veggies and fruits– grown up versions for you to feed yourself during meal time so that Muma can actually get to eat something too.
  • You are so super observant, noticing, staring and reaching towards all sorts of little changes here and there, and couldn’t keep your eyes off of Papa’s haircut.
  • You definitely have opinions and can express your likes and dislikes.  And your love/hate relationship with your binky hasn’t changed too much.  Ooooh, you get so mad when someone tries to give it to you when that’s not what you had in mind!
  • You have joined Aidan in his ranks of morning cuddletime expert, though we haven’t busted out with the playpen yet, so you must not be quite as bad.  Though also because we haven’t brought out the playpen, you wouldn’t have anything to do with it while camping, and you had to snuggle with Muma all night.  Yah, we should probably work on that before we camp again in August…
  • Your favorite toy is the little car, specifically the little guy in the car that Grammy and Grampapa brought for you from Germany.  They must have yum-my paint over there!
  • We can see that you understand a few words: more, up, and your favorite… “Do you want to nurse?”
  • You love the water, bath, swimming, splashpad.  And everyone comments on your ‘sunburn’.  No, that’s just your tan… pinky… just like your papa.

Oh Lukie, we love walking through these treasured firsts with you.  Thank you, Lord for this precious baby boy.  How have we been so blessed with three amazing little winklets? God is good!

  1. Thank you for your blog and the opportunity to watch the 3 ‘winklets’ grow! Lucas has changed so, since I saw him in April. His smile is his own – a combination of his brothers with a touch of Lucas included! He looks so happy! Bless you all!

  2. Love the ‘Winklets’! All three of them. Lukie’s smile is indeed a room brightner; he’s already a ‘light bearer’. He’s quite happy in the play seat at my house and enjoys the extra activity stand-up box from Muma’s day. Even though I see you fairly regularly, your update points out so many delightful little family joys and first accomplishments to treasure. May God continue to guide and bless you all with love, patience, energy, peace, and growing faith. Bunches of love from Nana!

  3. Love the pic and the update on all Lukie’s newests. . . I think he balances out the diverse ends of the spectrum, has sooo many of his brothers’ looks yet is definitely ‘his own self’ in personality. I agree you have be triply blessed with such healthy, happy, active boys. . . each who gives us so much joy. . . blessing to each and all love grammy/gpapa
