New Days with Two

It’s been a strange adjustment having Alexander at school and back to only two little ones home.  But after weeks and weeks we’re settling into our routines and enjoying new days and alone time with our two little brothers.  After worship and the ‘big boys’ depart, Aidan, Lucas & Muma take time to finish getting ready for our day, do our morning chores and work, and after snack time it’s family time for baking or cooking, playing trains, library browsing, learning tidbits, going for walks or playground jaunts or all the other ideas little ones come up with.  One day, Aidan has gymnastics which he still loves and is so proud to be doing  on his own and in the “big kids’ class (for four and five-year-olds as opposed to threes and fours).  Sometimes Muma makes special lunches for the boys- Aidan thinks Alexander’s lunch-box-lunches are the coolest ever, or in the nice weather we’ve had picnics outside.  The afternoon takes on it’s own mood of the day depending on what Muma needs to get done, the weather outside, or if the boys need a long or short nap of the day and before we know it it’s time to go get Alexander from school.  boysathome_s

Some days we have friends come home with us from school- which Lucas and Aidan both get pretty excited about.  And some days, even in this chilly weather we still have the crew gathering outside for playtime.  (We had fun baking a huge batch of fall cookies to send home with everyone.)  When Alex has homework, Aidan also wants to do his homework– work from his math book or reading.  And Yes!  My Little Aidan is learning to read with none other than Dick and Jane and a couple other easy/intro readers we’ve made for him :).  Muma is so proud of him.

Indeed we have been having a grand time this fall- hanging out in our ‘little crew.’  It’s been a delight to watch these two brothers get to know each other better and watch Aidan take on more of his big brother role.  He’s certainly coming into his own little boyhood with new words and expressions– “sa-weeet!”, goofy faces and a super speedy run (that “can even beat a five-year-old!”) At the same time, Lucas wants so much to be like his big brothers, and is certainly expressing his independence and wanting to do everything on his own while at the same time declaring “Baby!” when he wants to do a big-boy task.  How fun fun fun to have our home filled with (nearly) ‘two’ and ‘four’ again!  How thankful we are for the blessing of having Muma home with her boys, and sharing each of these special moments together.  God is Good!

  1. Another wonderful blog with great pictures! It’s great to hear how Aidan is now taking the roll of big brother with Lucas and Lucas coming into his own. And reading Dick and Jane? Our generation learned with Dick and Jane so we can highly recommend these books!
Looking forward to seeing you sometime during the holidays! Love you all!

  2. Oh my! This so touches my heart every time I read it! In pictures and prose you beautifully capture some of the gentle and lively moments of these two amazing boys. That top photo could be a contest winner. You are so blessed to be a stay-at-home mom (Thank you, David.) where your caring and creative talents can flourish to enrich all our lives. May God continue to guide both of you in raising these boys for Him.

  3. What special delights you have captured in each picture. Such wonders of marvelous adventurous blessings these 2d/3d born sons declare in all that you shared. We are so generously BLESSED to have this blog to keep up with their lives. . . love to all grammy, granpapa
